Data Sources
All nutritional data on Egg Food Nutrify is sourced from the following authoritative databases:
- USDA FoodData Central (FDC) — The primary source for all egg nutrition values. We reference specific FDC IDs for every food item:
- Whole egg, raw, fresh: FDC ID 171287
- Egg white, raw, fresh: FDC ID 172183
- Egg yolk, raw, fresh: FDC ID 171283
- USDA Table of Nutrient Retention Factors (Release 6) — Used for cooking loss adjustments
- Standard food composition tables — For wraps, fillings, and cooking fats used in egg roll and scrambled egg calculators
We do not use crowd-sourced data, user-submitted values, or unverified third-party databases.
Fact-Checking Process
Every piece of nutritional information published on this platform goes through the following verification process:
- Primary source verification: All values are cross-referenced against the original USDA FoodData Central entries using their specific FDC IDs.
- Calculation validation: Our calculator formulas are tested against known reference values. For example, 1 large egg (50g) at 143 kcal/100g should yield approximately 71.5 kcal — we display 72 kcal (standard rounding).
- Edge case testing: Calculators are tested with extreme inputs (0 eggs, maximum quantities, unusual combinations) to ensure outputs remain accurate and sensible.
- Peer review: Health claims and nutritional guidance are reviewed against current peer-reviewed research and dietary guidelines before publication.
Content Standards
All content published on Egg Food Nutrify must meet the following standards:
- Evidence-based: Every health or nutrition claim must be supported by peer-reviewed research or authoritative government health sources (USDA, NIH, FDA).
- No exaggeration: We do not make absolute health claims. Phrases like "eggs cure..." or "eggs prevent..." are never used. We present data and let users make informed decisions.
- Transparent methodology: Our calculation formulas, data sources, and assumptions are openly documented.
- Clear disclaimers: Every calculator page includes a disclaimer that the tool is for informational purposes and does not constitute medical or dietary advice.
- Regular updates: Content is reviewed and updated when new USDA data releases or significant research findings are published.
Corrections Policy
If you identify an error in our nutritional data, calculations, or content, we take it seriously:
- Report errors to foodnutrifyhq@gmail.com with the specific page URL and details of the issue.
- We investigate all reported errors within 48 hours.
- Confirmed errors are corrected immediately, and the "Last Updated" date on the affected page is changed to reflect the correction.
- Significant corrections are noted transparently on the page.
Calculator Methodology
Our nutrition calculators use the following methodology:
- Base nutrition: Calculated from USDA per-100g values, scaled to the actual weight of the egg size selected (Medium: 44g, Large: 50g, Extra Large: 56g, Jumbo: 63g).
- Cooking adjustments: Methods requiring added fats (frying, scrambling) account for oil/butter absorption. Absorption rates are based on food science literature: approximately 8–15% for pan frying, 15–22% for scrambling with fat.
- Rounding: Calorie values are rounded to the nearest whole number. Macronutrient values are rounded to one decimal place. Micronutrient values use appropriate precision based on the nutrient.
- Limitations: Actual nutrition varies based on specific egg source, hen diet, cooking technique, exact fat amounts, and ingredient brands. Our values are best estimates based on standardized USDA data.

Egg Food Nutrify is an independent nutrition information platform. Our content is not sponsored by, affiliated with, or influenced by any egg producer, food manufacturer, or dietary supplement company. Our recommendations are based solely on scientific evidence and USDA data.
